The project

One of our rural Estate clients in Dorset had, over the years, developed and diversified a redundant farm on the edge of a village to provide a micro brewery, bakery and electronic contractor.

Within the site were two agricultural barns which were no longer required for their original purpose. Our client wanted to provide commercial uses on the site in new purpose built buildings. We worked together to prepare a plan where one barn would be demolished and rebuilt and the other would be re-clad with a change of use.

We advised the client to apply for a flexible use, allowing them to advertise the buildings for a range of commercial uses including office, storage, light industry and/or general industry.

We compiled a consultant team to prepare an application, supported by a robust Planning Statement which led to approval of the application by officers.
