Reuse of Previously Developed Land
The project
We act for a local housebuilder who asked us to consider options for redeveloping a previously developed site within the urban area of Newbury. We compiled a consultant team including an Architect, Highway Consultant, Drainage Consultant, Arboriculturist, Ecologist and Noise Consultant to prepare a full planning application for 28 Canalside apartments. The scheme was carefully designed to create a modern development that respected the scale of surrounding development and the sites proximity to the canal. The scheme incorporates a policy compliant proportion of affordable homes and First Homes and car parking and an ecological enhancement zone.
The application received full Officer support and the West Berkshire Council Planning Committee resolved to approve the application. A Section 106 Legal Agreement is currently being progressed before planning permission is issued.
